Baler National High School Special Program in Foreign Language-Chinese Mandarin (SPFL-CM) registered once again a 100% passing rate in the 2019 Youth Chinese Test (YCT) conducted nationwide last November 18, 2019.
For the past three consecutive years 2017-2019, BNHS has been awarded Certificates of Recognition by the Confucius Institute-Angeles University Foundation (CI-AUF) for achieving a 100% passing rate.
Two sections under the SPFL-CM of BNHS from Grade 9-Aristotle (Level 1), composed of 38 learners and Grade 10-Aguinaldo (Level 2), with 45 learners, took the YCT.
Youth Chinese Test is an international standardized test for Chinese Mandarin learners, administered in the Philippines by the Confucius Institute-Angeles City Foundation in Angeles City, Pampanga, and sponsored by the Han Ban Headquarters in China.
SPFL-CM is handled by BNHS Mandarin local teachers, Mrs. Ivy Rose A. Jimenez and Mrs. Hiyas P. Querijero-Friginal, who were both trained to teach Chinese Mandarin at CI-AUF.
Baler NHS which has been implementing SPFL-CM since 2013, is just one of the more than 80 SPFL-CM implementing schools in the Philippines.
At present, 40 learners are taking up SPFL-CM Level 1, and 31 learners are currently on Level 2, with a total number of 71. Only those who passed the YCT Level 1 are eligible to take up YCT Level 2.
